Costa Victoria cruises for 2020-2021

Until February 2020 Costa Victoria sails out of Mumbai, India, or Male the capital (and island) of the Maldives archipelago. Ports visited are on India’s west coast. They include New Mangalore, Cochin, the state of Goa, and Colombo in Sri Lanka. A 13-night round trip has eight sea days. Or, a six-night one-way cruises visits half the ports. Costa Victoria returns in March 2020 from India to Venice to offer cruises of two to 10 nights in the Adriatic Sea. The longer the cruise, the further it reaches to Greek islands, and even to Israel. Later in the year Costa Victoria relocates to Savona, Italy, making the standard circuit of the Western Mediterranean’ holiday resorts.

Life aboard Costa Victoria

Costa Victoria debuted in 1996, was refurbished in 2007, and at 75,200 GT she carries 1928 passengers. The interior décor is markedly Italian, more like a hotel than a ship, with four glass elevators and seven-deck-high ‘planetarium’ atrium. Outdoor is a walk-around promenade deck, and plenty of deck space and sun loungers. Passengers are mostly Italians, and you’ll probably hear another seven languages – along with multi-language announcements.

Accommodation
There are 13 price categories for the 964 cabins, of which 573 have an outside view. Of these 242 have a private balcony. There are six large Panorama suites (with three or four Pullman berths) and 14 mini-suites. Of these suites, four have a private balcony. All cabins have wood cabinetry, excellent air conditioning, mini-bar/refrigerator, and electric black-out windows. Cabins have safes, hair dryers, showers (no toiletries are provided), TV satellite news, and films in different languages each day.

Suite passengers get pillow menus, bathrobes and slippers, and lunch and dinner menus are delivered daily and meals served in the suite. Bathrooms have showers and tubs, and toiletries are provided. Six cabins have disabled access, and there are no single cabins.

Food and Dining
There are two traditional dining rooms, Sinfonia Restaurant and Fantasia Restaurant, with two seatings and smoking/non-smoking areas. Evening meals always have six courses, with great appetisers and pasta. Fantasia is also open for breakfast and lunch. Alternatively, have breakfast and lunch at The Bolero Restaurant Buffet, as well as afternoon tea. Alternative dining is at the specialty restaurant, Club Il Magnifico, set up each evening in the La Tavernetta bar. The impressive a la carte menu has a cover charge and is reservation-only.

The Pool Grill and Terrazza Grill serve burgers, hotdogs, fries, pizza and fruit. The Pizzeria serves from mid-afternoon, and of course bar snacks are open continuously. Sandwiches, snacks and pizza are served in the bars late night, and there is 24-hour room service. Room service breakfast is served free.

Entertainment
The main entertainment every night is in the two-deck Festival Theatre, the venue for production shows, major cabaret and social functions. The entertainment team at Concorde Plaza leads passengers in popular dances calling the action in three or four languages. Relax with background musical entertainment in the Orpheus Bar, Capriccio Lounge, Atrium Planetarium, and others of the ten bars and lounges. Find night-time fun and entertainment in the Montecarlo Casino and Rock Star Disco. On port days there are the usual games around the pool.

There are three pools, four Jacuzzis, jogging track, sports courts, fitness centre and gymnasium - though note the spa/fitness area is rather compact. The Pompei Spa includes Roman baths, a sauna, steam room, and treatment rooms offering massages, manicures, body wraps and facials. Children's and teens' clubs on Costa Victoria are separate. The Squok Club, open daily on sea and port days, is for children; the teen club comes alive at night with discos.
