Life aboard Carnival Radiance
Carnival Radiance debuts in April 2020 after a massive renovation, that changes her former name Carnival Victory. Initially, cruises will depart from Barcelona with 8- and 9-night itineraries around the Western Mediterranean and the Adriatic coasts. Depart from Barcelona for New York on a 12-night transatlantic crossing. Then until October 2020 Carnival Radiance will sail from New York and Norfolk to New England and Canadian Maritime Provinces. From November 2020 to April 2021 the ship will be based at Port Canaveral, offering 5 to 7 night cruises to the Bahamas and the company resorts of Half Moon Cay and Amber Cove. Then from May 2021Radiance relocates to Galveston, to run 3- and 4-night ‘office-break’ cruises to the Yucatan Peninsula. There are some longer 8-nigbht cruises further south to transit the Panama Canal, one of the great cruise experiences. As the newly renovated Carnival Radiance, she will have a number of new dining venues, bars, children’s facilities, and adults only Retreat.

Carnival Radiance, at 101,509 GT, carries 2,764 passengers. She was built in 2000 and refitted in 2015, and more lately in 2020 such an overhaul that she has a new name. Its amenities include the giant LED screen in the Seaside Theatre, Circle “C” space just for 12-14 year olds, and Club 02 for 15-17 year olds. The Triumph Class vessels are quite impressive with tasteful décor. Be assured no-one is ever bored. If you want peace, stay in your cabin and use room service. This is great mainstream cruising value for those that are looking to have a "Fun Ship" vacation with a party atmosphere.

Accommodation
The 36 cabin categories include interior staterooms, ocean-view rooms, balcony rooms, and suites. Over half of all cabins have outside views and all are larger than the industry standard. Each cabin has a gift amenity basket in its bathroom, filled with disposable razors, deodorant, breath mints, toothpaste and soap. Most rooms have twin beds that can be converted to a king bed upon request. All staterooms include flat-screen TVs, safe, hair dryer, bathrobes in the higher category cabins, and Carnival Comfort Bed with plush mattresses, good quality duvets, linens and pillows. TV channels include CN, Fox News, a music video station, a Carnival station, and port excursion overviews.

There is a wide range of balcony staterooms, with aft and wrap-around views. Suites are larger in size, with walk-in closet, a good-sized bathroom and lounge area, and whirlpool tub. Choose from Junior Suite, Grand Suite, and Ocean Suite. Suites come with priority check-in. Many cabins have upper and lower bunk beds. There are no single cabins, and 25 wheelchair-accessible cabins. There are self-service laundry rooms with washing machines, dryers, irons and ironing board.

Food and Dining
Dine in the two principal dining rooms – the Atlantic and the Pacific – with a choice of fixed-time dining at two seatings, or flexible “Your Time Dining”. Dining assignments can be booked before the cruise. Menus change daily and service is excellent. There’s one formal dinner, so come prepared to dress up. Breakfast and lunch are open seating. The casual Lido Restaurant buffet is the expansive two-level poolside eatery, offering casual alternatives for breakfast and lunch. Children have their own menu, plus pizzas and ice cream all day.

Carnival Radiance offers several cover charge dining options: Green Eggs and Ham for breakfast, Fahrenheit 555 Steakhouse, Guy’s Pig & Anchor BBQ Smokehouse, Bonsai Sushi,(for lunch and dinner) and Cucino del Capitano (for dinner). Also, there’s the rather special Chef’s Table for 12 that includes a galley tour. Of course there’s plenty of fast food – hot dogs, burgers and such, as well as the first ever Big Chicken Restaurant. There’s a patisserie, and self-serve ice-cream and yoghurt (at no extra charge). At the Café get a slice of cake or a gourmet coffee at an additional cost. The ship offers 24-hour room service (pay extra), ranging from basic continental-style breakfast fare to a variety of sandwiches and desserts.

Entertainment
There is something for everyone. The Caribbean Main Show Lounge spanning three decks presents large production shows and cabaret acts backed by a live show band. It has a revolving stage, hydraulic orchestra pit, and excellent sound. Seaside Theatre’s giant screen over the main pool shows sports events, music videos and films. Night is the time for late buffet snacks, R-rated comedy, the Club Arctic for dancing, and South China Sea Club casino. There are 10 themed bars.

Daytime activities include the customary art auctions, karaoke, "game show mania," ballroom dancing, comedians, and bingo. The Universe Pool area has pools and a three-decks-high Twister Waterslide. The Spa Carnival spans two decks, and offers aerobics, sauna and steam rooms, solarium, treatment rooms, lecture rooms, beauty parlour and large gymnasium. On the sun deck the City Sports Park has a mini-golf course, jogging track, and deck games. Teens enjoy their own parties and movies at Club O2, junior teens at Circle “C”, and pre-teens at Camp Carnival.
