All suites on board feature balconies, king or twin bedding, a lounge/sofa bed, a desk, a stocked minibar fridge, champagne on ice, glassware, replenished drinking water (twice daily), reusable water bottles, and a walk-in wardrobe with a safe, umbrella, robes and slippers. Each suite includes a drying area, a large bathroom with double sinks, separate shower and bath, and a soap and bodywash menu to choose your preferences (shampoo and conditioner are provided). Suites are also equipped with a flat-screen TV offering movies, sports, a recap of onboard lectures and activities, music, and professional photos taken throughout the voyage. Each suite also comes with a personal storage locker in the wet room on Deck 3. Power points are a mix of US and European plugs, and USB outlets are available near the bed and desk. There are plenty of mirrors and storage spaces — ideal given most cruises run 10–15 days, with many guests opting for back-to-back sailings.
The cruise fare includes Wi-Fi, a wide range of dining options, all drinks (excluding top-shelf spirits), tea and coffee, at least one complimentary shore excursion at each port, laundry facilities, professional photos (transferable via Apple AirDrop or USB), a voyage highlight video, and daily expert-led lectures and activities. These "Conversations" are presented by the expedition team, all highly experienced in their fields — from birdwatching and marine biology to geology and region-specific history. After a day exploring, there’s nothing better than a dip in the ship’s stunning infinity pool or relaxing in one of four hot tubs. There were always deck chairs available — no matter the time of day. The ship also features a spa with sauna, a hair salon, and a well-equipped gym offering free group fitness classes.
Dining is a highlight, with included options such as in-room dining, buffet breakfast and lunch, grab-and-go from the coffee shop (which includes a gelato bar with daily flavours), snacks in various lounges, nightly sushi at The Club, and à la carte meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The buffet restaurant also offers a casual à la carte menu, with indoor and outdoor seating available. Each evening, your turndown service includes a daily program — The Herald — and a dining guide with the next day’s menus, allowing you to plan your meals and activities. No bookings are required, and the dress code for dinner is casual elegance.
You’ll also need to be reasonably mobile, as zodiac boarding involves walking down 12 steps with handrails to reach the launch area, then transferring into a zodiac. Landings vary — some are on beaches, others on jetties or via zodiac-to-zodiac transfers — but guests are always assisted by crew. Despite the adventurous nature of the trip, you’ll still enjoy the classic cruising elements: an open bridge, trivia sessions, nightly entertainment, and more. With a capacity of just 260 guests and close to 200 friendly staff, the personalised service is exceptional, whether on board or ashore.
Seabourn Pursuit is equipped with two submarines and a fleet of kayaks (additional charges apply), and diving is included for licensed divers. These experiences are limited and must be pre-booked through the Seabourn Source app before embarkation. For diving, interest must be registered and confirmed at the time of booking, as only eight diving spots are available per voyage. Once on board, you’ll be advised when and where these activities are offered.
With guests ranging from a mature 14 to a young-at-heart 94, it was inspiring to see how diverse the expedition cruising crowd can be. I disembarked feeling not just relaxed, but more educated than when I stepped aboard — and to me, that’s exactly what expedition cruising is all about.
