Iona Cruises
This new ship, at 183,900 GT and with up to 5200 passengers, will be an attraction in itself. MS Iona will be the first cruise ship built for the British market to be powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG), to make her more environmentally friendly.P&O’s emphasis is on food, drink and entertainment – UK-style. Don't expect climbing walls, bumper cars or water slides, but do expect celebrity chefs, revue-style shows, and plenty of bars and pubs. At the centre of the ship is the Grand Atrium, with three-storey high glass walls, grand staircase, gallery and overhead walkways. The ship also has a 670m long lanai deck (that is, some cabins open to the walkway) with a covered promenade, and outdoor restaurants. On deck 18 is a giant clear Sky Dome, covering one of four entertainment spaces on the ship. It is two decks above a daytime pool, and night-time retractable stage featuring aerial performances, projections onto the roof and immersive shows. The ship will feature more than 4,000 pieces of art, the majority hailing from the UK.
