The New England region (six NE States of the USA) is a centre of early North American settlement, cultural and industrial growth. The coastline is dotted with urban centres, and its major port Boston is a city of higher education. Cruises to the St Lawrence estuary round the Atlantic Provinces (New Brunswick, Nova Scotia with festival city Halifax, Prince Edward Island, and Quebec with its French-Canadian culture). The other major ports on the Atlantic seaboard – including New York and Baltimore – are included in cruises that are linked to other destinations.
