Silistra is a city and administrative centre of a Province in NE Bulgaria, located on the south bank of the Danube River at the country's border with Romania.There are many historical landmarks such as a very well preserved 4th C. Roman Silistra tomb with its vaulted sepulchre, and remains of the Medjidi Tabiya fortress completed in 1853, both of which are extremely interesting. Cologne, situated on the River Rhine and Germany’s fourth largest city, was recognised by the Romans as a major centre for their trade routes.
