Cruises visiting Karlskrona & all Karlskrona cruises for  2020

View Karlskrona 2020 cruises for 2 ships listing 4 cruises from Karlskrona with today's best deals!

Sweden’s only baroque city and a UNESCO World Heritage Town, Karlskrona, an outstanding example of a late-17th-century European planned naval city, is an historical navy base at the SE tip of Sweden. The original plan and many of the buildings have survived intact, along with installations that illustrate its subsequent development up to the present day. The city of Karlskrona is spread over 30 islands, Trosso being the main one. The islet of Stumholmen was formerly the property of the Navy but today it houses the National Naval Museum.

Karlskrona has plenty to offer, particularly the picturesque old quarter around the once-busy fishing port at Fisktorget and some short cruises around the islands in the archipelago. The city’s Marine Museum, with its display of figureheads positioned on the fronts of historical ships, absolutely takes one’s breath away. Set in a double-height floor-to-ceiling glassed in room, it also offers exquisite views of the Karlskrona Harbour. Be sure to visit the main square of Karlskrona that is the biggest in Scandinavia, and actually the second largest in Europe, after the Red Square of Moscow.

Take a tour of the Kungsholm Fortress with its unique architecture and military history, but be sure to have the required documents. The Blekinge and Mobile Coast artillery Museums are also worthwhile visiting. If visiting late July or early August, it may be that the popular festival of ‘The Sail’ will be on and during this time the seascouts of Karlskrona will row a boat carrying torches along the docks while playing the national anthems for the visiting ships.
