Cruises visiting Helsingborg & all Helsingborg cruises for  2019-2020

View Helsingborg 2019-2020 cruises for 2 ships listing 5 cruises from Helsingborg with today's best deals!

The scenic coastal town of Helsingborg is known as the Pearl of the Øresund, the strait separating Sweden and Denmark (4.5km distant). It is a home to good shopping and rich culture. There is a beautiful new residential area by the waterfront, as well as a blend of old-style stone built homes. Note the Church of St Mary, and the medieval fortress Karnan in the city centre. The fortress has stood guard over Helsingborg for over 600 years, and you can climb to the top of its tower for some magnificent views. In summer many appreciate the great beaches running along 25 km of Helsingborg’s coastline.

Don’t overlook the neo-gothic styled Town Hall with a richly-decorated façade, stained glass windows, motifs of the city’s history, and its 65m high clock tower. (It faces the main road renowned for hoons’ tyre marks of burnouts.) Don’t miss the Sofiero Palace, set in an amazing park that until the 1970s was the residence of Swedish royalty, and makes an ideal visit for all the family. Here visitors have a great view over the strait of Øresund to Denmark. Also in a delightful garden setting is the Fredriksdal Open-Air Museum where the history and the diversity of the countryside are kept alive.

The town first appears in the records in 1085 and it received its municipal charter in 1649. It is now a busy port, commercial and industrial town, a favoured centre for conferences and trade fairs, and Sweden's main channel of communication by sea with Denmark and mainland Europe. The port has been somewhat eclipsed since the building of Øresund Bridge, which links Sweden and Denmark, but is still well worth exploring. The historic town has many attractions including old houses, stone churches, and narrow alleyways to wander through. Then there’s Tropikariet, the small but interestingly decorated zoo, with a huge shark tank in the basement.
