Cruises from Savo Island
Savo Island is a volcanic island in the Solomon Islands group in the South Pacific ocean. It is located to the northeast of the northern tip of Guadalcanal Island and the entrance to Ironbottom Sound. That name was given by Allied sailors to the stretch of water between Guadalcanal, Savo Island, and Florida Island of the Solomon Islands.

It is most well known as the location of several naval battles fought in the adjacent "Ironbottom Sound" during World War II, between the Allied naval forces and the Imperial Japanese Navy where dozens of ships and planes were sunk there during the Battle of Guadalcanal in 1942 and 1943.
