Cruises from Yankicha Island
Tiny Yankicha Island is the emergent tip of an extinct volcano, located in the Kuril Islands of the Russian Far East. It is considered by many to be the most visually scenic island of the Kurils. Zodiacs are able to pass over the gravel bar at the entrance of the caldera where visitors are astounded by the view of the ongoing volcanic activity. On the way to Yankicha visitors scout for whales and sea otters from their appropriate sea vessels, as a Laysan albatross may be gliding in their wake, and with luck, spot the exceedingly rare short-tailed albatross.
