Cruises from Goritzy
Goritzy - aka Goritsy - is a small village in Volgada Oblast, Russia on the eastern bank of the River Sheksna, a part of the Volga-Baltic Waterway. The main attraction, the Monastery of Resurrection was established in 1544, becoming the place of imprisonment for spouses and relatives of the nobles that fell into disfavour such as the two wives of Ivan the Terrible. It was shut down by the Bolsheviks in the 1920's, but resurrected in the 1970's as a museum of History, Art, and Architecture.
