Cruises from Lusancay Islands
Lusancay Islands and Reefs lie in the Solomon Sea, south of the 5000m deep Trobriand Trench, and west of Kiriwina Island in the Trobriand archipelago. They are part of Papua New Guinea’s Milne Bay Province. There are 17 Luscany Islands and many reefs that spread 100 km from east to west and just as far from north to south. Only the main island of Kawa and the island of Simsim (Konia) are inhabited, with 165 and 125 inhabitants in the 2000 census. The main island of Kawa is the largest island by area and population. In the past, Kwaiyaluma was probably inhabited as well. The easternmost of the Lusancay Islands is Silipuaka (Silipwaka).
