Rob Warner was exceptional in his handling of all the curve balls I threw at him, starting with a change of ship then cruise line and finally assisting with obtaining a credit from Royal Caribbean due to a booking mess up of my fault. We are using Rob for our Caribbean cruise next year and Alison and Noel are also using him. Cannot recommend Rob highly enough."

Cruises visiting Gisborne & all Gisborne cruises for  2019-2020-2021

View Gisborne 2019-2020-2021 cruises for 11 ships listing 32 cruises from Gisborne with today's best deals!

The city of Gisborne is located at the north end of Poverty Bay in the east coast region of North Island, New Zealand. The Gisborne region has been settled by Maori tribes for over 700 years, where they built their fishing villages and hill forts. Here Captain Cook made his first landing in New Zealand with the Endeavour in 1769. European traders and whalers began to settle in the river and port area. Interestingly, Gisborne is sometimes referred to as the 'City of Rivers', Gisborne sits at the convergence of the Waimata, Taruheru and Turanganui rivers. One half of the city’s population identify as Maoris.

In New Zealand's summer months Gisborne is the first city on Earth to see the sun rise each day. From Kaiti Hill there are expansive views of the city and Poverty Bay. The city has a rustic charm and is a popular holiday spot. Local industries include agriculture, horticulture, farming and forestry. Wine production is also valuable to the local economy – it is the unofficial ‘Chardonnay Capital of New Zealand’. Visit the memorial to Captain James Cook on the foreshore, and perhaps head out of town to the nearby white sand beaches of Waikanae and Midway, or enjoy a surf at Wainui.

Gisborne is fast becoming established as an adventure centre, with a range of activities to suit every level of ability. Its coastal location presents boating, fishing, snorkelling and diving opportunities, while the hinterland even offers jetboating on the Motu and Mohaka Rivers, while shark cage diving is the ultimate experience. Also on offer are 4WD tours, scenic flights, guided horse treks for all abilities, and half-day farm tours. Take the opportunity to visit this unique piece of New Zealand nestled in the foothills of the Raukumara Ranges. Enjoy magnificent native bush and crystal clear rivers.
