Cruises visiting Ulvik & all Ulvik cruises for  2019

Ulvik is a village in the county of Hordaland, Norway. It lies on a small branch of the Harfdangerfjord, the second longest in Norway. The surrounding municipality stretches from the Hardanger Fjord to 1,800 m above sea level. By road, it is about 2 hours from Bergen. Ulvik is visited in the summer by numerous cruise ships who travel along the fjord. The pocket-sized village of Ulvik strings prettily along the shoreline, with orchards dusting the green hills behind. It's an excellent place to unwind. Ulvik and Hardanger, being the orchards of Norway, are famous for fruit blossoms in May, producing sweet cherries, plums, pears and apples.

Many visitors take a stroll through the compact village centre where shops, hotels and cafes as well as different arts and crafts exhibitions are found. The tourist office is situated by the waterfront. Hiking trails criss-cross the rough uplands to the north of Ulvik so that many can explore the surrounding shoreline. Ulvik offers a variety of outdoor activities. Folklore performances, farm visits, and excursions by coach are on offer, as well as the opportunity to take a guided village walk to visit cultural sites. Imagine, this serene village was almost destroyed in 1940 during WWII.

Here the natural wonders of Ulvik take advantage of the unspoiled blue fjord, gentle foothills and wild and awesome mountain plateau. Indeed, the local council has gone to some trouble here in producing their culture landscape plan, in which four designated areas incorporate both footpaths and historic sites. Hiking maps are available at the tourist office. Many choose to visit the area that is home to the Ljonakleiv crofter's farm in the hills above the village. Visit farms with their own food market and that also offer cider tasting. Then there’s the opportunity to learn survival techniques at Hardanger Base camp.
