Cruises visiting Bodo & all Bodo cruises for  2019-2020

View Bodo 2019-2020 cruises for 6 ships listing 14 cruises from Bodo with today's best deals!

Bodø, located about 80km north of the Arctic Circle, is the largest city in Nordland county, and the second largest in North Norway. It has a population of 50,000. The city was completely rebuilt after its destruction during WWII, with the completion of the Town Hall in 1959. Despite its location and being one of Norway’s windiest cities, Bodø features a sub-polar oceanic climate, with chilly (but not cold) winters and cool summers. If visiting from the from 2 June to 10 July, Bodø City is one of the best places in Norway to view the Midnight Sun, which has to be seen to be believed!

In the city visit both the Norwegian Aviation Museum and the Salten Museum and compare the architectural differences between the Bodø Cathedral and the Bodin Church. The new cultural centre "Stormen" (the storm) was opened in 2014. About 10 kilometres NE of Bodø is the popular recreation area and camping ground of Geitvågen. With seventeen nature reserves with a variety of trees and even with many orchids and a large number of White-Tailed eagles (Bodø is the Sea Eagle Capital of the world), it is an area that is visited by many hikers as well as tour groups.

Bodo may present you with your first opportunity to try sea kayaking with instructors. For those interested in art and crafts, Bodø has a diverse community of local artists, glass blowers, potters and jewellery makers. The city also has a developed music community. If possible take a fast passenger boat to visit Salstraumen, 10km to the SE of Bodø, when the tide is at its highest and marvel at the forces of nature such as powerful whirlpools up to 10m in diameter and 4-5m deep. The tidal flow reaches 41 kph.
