Cruises from Haarlem
Haarlem is located on the river Spaame, about 20km west of Amsterdam, and 7km east of the North Sea. It is the centre of the tulip bulb-growing district and is known as 'Bloemenstad' (flower city) for this reason. Haarlem still has many of its central medieval buildings intact, and many of them are on the Dutch Heritage register. Haarlem has a rich history dating back to pre-medieval times. Read more
Its Golden Age in the 17th C saw many artists and craftsmen migrate there, such as painter Frans Hals, and at the central market square there's a statue of Laurens Janszoon Coster, allegedly the inventor of the printing press.
