Yokkaichi (“Fourth Day Market”) is a city of 300,000 on Ise Bay in the centre of Japan, on Honshu Island facing the Pacific Ocean. The city is a manufacturing centre. Sightseeing spots include the famously beautiful illuminations of Nabana-no-Sato and Nagashima Spaland with its roller coasters, which are very popular with families in the whole Kansai area. Other than that, recommended spots where you can enjoy nature in this area include Mt. Gozaisho-dake and Yunoyama Onsen. Other appealing tourist and leisure spots include the Ise Grand Shrine and the Suzuka Circuit.

Nabana-no-Sato is 15 or so kilometres from the port, a botanical garden with the largest flower garden in Japan. See flowers blooming in season, plum tree orchard, greenhouse, and Island Fuji. Winter night light-up displays are magnificent alongside the river. Not far from the port is Rokka-en, Moroto Seiroku’s Old House. This mansion is located in Kuwana. It was the house of Moroto Seiroku, the second ruler of this region. It was completed in 1913. The area is 18000 m2 and it has buildings in the Western-style, Japanese-style, and a warehouse and Japanese stroll garden. The Western-style building and Japanese-style building are adjacent, and this is a perfect blend of Japanese and Western architectural styles.

The city of Yokkaichi is also known for a festival held in August annually, the Toride Shrine kujira-bune gyoji (whale boat event), which was registered as UNESCO's Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2016. Don’t miss this unique opportunity if the timing of your trip coincides with this event. Twenty kilometres west of the port is Mount Gozaisho (1212m), a popular tourist spot. An original discipline developed in the nearby Iga region was called Ninja art, and people who practise this are called Ninja.
