Cruises visiting Toyama & all Toyama cruises for  2020

View Toyama 2020 cruises for 1 ships listing 3 cruises from Toyama with today's best deals!

Toyama is surrounded by steep mountains on the coast of the Sea of Japan in central Honshu, about 200 km N of Nagoya and 300 km NW of Tokyo. During the last century heavy and chemical industries developed in Toyama, based on abundant electricity which was generated by hydro power stations in the mountains near-by. There are numerous attractions to visit such as the Fugan Unga Kansui Park that is an oasis in a busy city, the history museum of Toyama Inotani Sekisyokan, as well as the Family Amusement Park and the Botanic Gardens.

Those interested in the area’s historical background visit Toyama Castle and moat, built in 1543 (and rebuilt four more times!), set in an attractive, peaceful park. Other attractions are: the Museum of Modern Art standing in Jonan Park in central Toyama; Toyama Glass Art Museum; Toyama Gokoku Shrine; Suiboku Museum (ink artwork); the former Uchiyama Residence; Ikeda Yasubei Shoten (a traditional medicine shop in downtown Toyama); and many beautiful flowering gardens. Additionally, the quality of Toyama’s seafood in particular, is regarded as the best in Japan and the restaurants are well patronised.

Some distance from the city are five picturesque and cool Tokoniji Waterfalls, set in the delightful Jinzu River Gorge, that are very popular. All visitors are assured not only of absorbing the beauty of nature but that they will also inevitably see a rainbow. The mountains are home to Tateyama, one of Japan’s Three Sacred Mountains, which at an altitude of 3,000m makes for a great six hour tour. If visiting in winter, then this is a great spot to do some skiing and snowboarding. Due to its position on the Hokuriku Shinkansen, Toyama is a popular stop for tourists on the way to other attractions in the area such as the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route.
