Carli was very good in recommending cabins and organising them for us. Also, we appreciated her providing us an after hours number to contact her on."

Cruises visiting Opatija & all Opatija cruises for  2019

Opatija - aka Sankt Jakobi, Abbazia - is a tranquil resort in western Croatia, just southwest of Rijeka in the Gulf of Kvarner on the Adriatic coast. Surrounded by beautiful forests of bay laurel, together with its mild climate and stunning setting, it is a popular summer and winter resort. The whole sea coast to the north and south is rocky and picturesque, and contains several smaller winter resorts. The city's most prestigious sights are: the Villa Angiolina that was built in 1844, many late 19th-century luxury hotels and villas that have survived to present times, as well as the remains of medieval walls and the town gate.

Opatija is known for the Maiden With the Seagull, a 1956 statue that is positioned on a promontory by the Juraj Sporer art pavilion. It is one of the symbols of city as is the Angiolina town park that contains many species of plants from all over the world. Other tourist attractions include: the old 14th-century Benedictine ‘Opatija Abbey of Saint James’ that is located in Saint James's Park, Saint James's church built in 1506 and enlarged in 1937, and the neo-Romanesque Church of the Annunciation with its pronounced green cupola that was designed in 1906.

Families can enjoy the park for children that is situated close to the sea, while all can drive along the shady Lungomare promenade that extends for 12 km to the picturesque village of Lovran. There are dozens of secluded coves for you to stop and stretch out a towel along the rocks and jump into the sea. Thanks to the big-spending habits of middle-class Croats, top-quality seafood restaurants have taken off in a big way in Opatija, turning the town into a major target for gastro-pilgrims. All visitors feel its magical allure.
