Paxi is the smallest island group within the Ionian Islands. In Greek it is a plural form. The largest islands are Paxos and nearby Antipaxos. The main town of Paxoi, and the seat of the municipality, is Gaios, while Antipaxos is famous for its wine and two of the finest sand beaches in the Ionian Sea. The western side the island has steep white chalky cliffs above blue caves. The island is replete with olive groves. In Greek mythology, Poseidon created the island by striking Corfu with his trident, so that he and wife Amphitrite could have some peace and quiet.

The tiny island is a place with a strong cosmopolitan character due to the many yachts moored in its ports in summer. Paxi island is mostly famous for its wonderful beaches with exotic blue colours. Gaios, Lakka, and Logos are the three villages of the island, with traditional architecture, and relaxing beach promenades. These villages are lined with fish taverns and studios. Daily boat tours depart from Gaios, the main village of Paxi, to the island of Antipaxos, a place with gorgeous sea water. Holidays in Paxi can be combined with the neighbouring island of Corfu and the opposite mainland coasts.

Visiting Antipaxos, while vacationing on Paxos, is the easiest thing since island hopping takes almost 10-15 minutes by boat. Antipaxos is also one of the most suitable destinations for sailing fans as its numerous coves and small bays guarantee unique explorations and incomparable images, some of the best ones in the entire Greece. The island combines all the features, on a small scale, that one would expect on a Greek Island – tiny villages, beaches, abundant flora and fauna, boats moored in the blue waters, peace and tranquillity.
