Ayr is nestled on the SW coast of Scotland, overlooking Ayr bay at the Firth of Clyde near to the Isle of Arran. This famous county town offers excellent shopping facilities, including the biggest names in retail, as well as a wide range of interesting individually owned shops. Add a selection of bars and restaurants that serve local produce to suit all tastes and pockets, and Ayr Town Centre has everything you need for a great day out. If you like historic ruins then visiting the 13th century impressive ruins is a must. Go up the dove tower and into the cloisters and look out for the graves.

Of great interest to visitors is the Culzean Castle built from 1777-1797 that sits on 563 acres of land. Inside the castle you can tour rooms showcasing furniture, armour, weapons, and paintings, while in the many walks through the wooded grounds ponds, formal gardens with the well laid out fountain court garden, and even beaches, are all of great interest. Then there’s the essential visit to the Robert Burns Birthplace Museum to see the poet's birthplace, Burns Cottage, the Burns Monument, Brig O'Doon and Alloway Kirk. Trace Burns’ footsteps with a guide dressed as the Bard himself, hear the tales, and listen to the poetry.

Take a tour and see where the 1st Scottish Parliament was held in 1315, where the last Witch in Ayr was burned, where the covenanters are buried, and where Tam o' Shanter & Soutter Johnnie used to meet after a long hard day at the market to celebrate their long friendship and the monies they had lost and made. Energetic visitors can choose from a range of outdoor sports including tennis, bowling and a round of golf at Belleisle, arguably the finest public parkland course in the UK. For children, the Ayr Seafront Playpark is ideal, with plenty of things to climb, rides, slides, and swings.
