Outstanding Service Breeanna ! Your excellent service in my first cruise booking excelled my expectation - being very helpful, friendly and patient with any of our queries even after my booking was made and secured (i.e. after sell service). The on board credit was a lovely surprise gift to us! I have booked another two cruises (Dec 2017 & Jan 2018) with Breeanna!Teresa S, SA"

Travemünde is a sea resort and ferry port at the coast of the Baltic Sea. Travemünde is a borough of Lübeck, Germany, located at the mouth of river Trave in Lübeck Bay. Travemünde arose out of a stronghold placed there by Henry the Lion, Duke of Saxony, in the 12th century to guard the mouth of the Trave, and the Danes subsequently strengthened it. It became a town in 1317 and passed into the possession of the free city of Lübeck, to which it has since belonged. Travemünde is Germany's largest ferry port at the Baltic Sea with destinations to Sweden, Finland and Estonia.

It’s easy to walk around the town, past al fresco coffee restaurants, railway station, and old residences from the 16th C. Just stroll along the wide 1.7km long Vorderreihe promenade and take in the charming atmosphere of the town. At the mouth of the river is the wide sandy beach, likely covered with sunbathers and wind chairs. There’s a lighthouse from 1539, the oldest German lighthouse at the Baltic coast. Another attraction of Travemünde is the windjammer Flying P-Liner named Passat (“Trade Wind”, built 1911) that once sailed between South Australia and Europe in the 1930s. It is now a museum ship anchored near the mouth of river.

The annual Travemünder Woche is a traditional sailing race week in Northern Europe. The annual sand festival in Travemünde is known as the Sand World, and perhaps you may come upon some impressive sand sculptures. You’ll find plenty of attractive scenery, a seaside museum, and seafood snacks. And if a cruise ships enters the river, towering high, you can almost touch it!
