Freudenberg is a delightful town on the river Main in Germany, and is situated on the slope of a promontory of the Eiderberg (Eider mountain). The northern edge of the ‘old village’ suggests the former scale and importance of the Jewish community. Notable businesses in the town include Rauch, a furniture manufacturing company that has, as part of its plant, a zoo that the public are free to visit. The zoo exhibits many exotic animals such as monkeys, zebras, and kangaroos. Also of interest to many is the Technik Museum: Putnitz Street Vehicles with displays of Motorcycles, Fire Brigade engines, buses, tractors, and armoured vehicles, to name but a few.

The "Alter Flecken" is Freudenberg's downtown core, built wholly of half-timbered houses. It gives the impression of a small town from the 17th C. It is regarded as a "Building monument of international importance". The Evangelical church was built as a fortress church and the bell-tower is the only one of the former castle's towers still left standing. A single one lane road passes through the Altstadt (the old town centre) by the Rathaus (Town Hall) constructed in 1605. This means that the German village is easy to explore on foot. This is a very quaint area that allows visitors to really get the feel for German life.

If you are a nature lover, you will certainly fall in love with the scenic mountain landscape. It is a good place for hiking, there are 160 km of marked trails at your disposal, but that`s not all you can do here. Among the activities, you can visit The Museum of Technology and get in touch with the industrial history of the place. You can also pursue different kinds of sports like fishing, swimming, horseback riding, tennis or badminton.
