Jingzhou is situated in the south of the centre of Hubei Province and the middle reaches of the Yangtze River. As Jingzhou City represents so much importance in Chinese history, the city has been acknowledged by the State Department in China to be o¬ne of the best of 24 famous historical and cultural ancient cities. Its Ancient City is amazingly preserved by an ancient city wall in southern China. The main attractions include five ruined cities of the State of Chu, 73 sites of the Chu civilization, more than 800 ancient tombs, and an abundance of museums.

Jingzhou Travel provides detailed information of the surrounding area, including attractions, such as an abundance of historic relics in numerous cultural sites from the Spring and Autumn and Warring States periods, as well as travel suggestions. Its cultural relics and advantageous location has drawn the attention of many tourists from both home and abroad. Don’t miss the Jiangling Bonsai Garden, a recreational park that comprises traditional bonsais and modern plants. It is in the downtown of Jingzhou city, and has easy access. Then there’s the Jingzhou Museum located in the Kaiyuan Temple, with more than 120,000 historical relics.

Of interest to most visitors are the City Wall and the City Gate Towers. There were 6 ancient city gates in the wall, originally each had a tower. Now the most popular is the Binyang Tower. Eastern Gate was for welcoming the guests and ambassadors in ancient times, so the tower is very grandiose. On the Qujiang Tower, all the splendour of the Yangtze River comes into view. The Large North Gate, also called Willow Gate - people used willow branches to farewell their friends - was the fortress leading to Beijing. Climbing onto the towers, you gain a magnificent panoramic view of this beautiful city.
