Fury Beach lies on the east coast of uninhabited Somerset Island in the Canadian Arctic Archipelago. It lies 176 km north of the Arctic Circle, and 180 south of the Northwest Passage shipping route that is becoming more frequented with explorer vessels due to the retreat of Arctic ice. The beach faces Prince Regent Inlet and Brodeur Peninsula of Baffin Island 74 km to the east. Fury Beach is known for its historical background.

HMS Fury was a wooden British Hecla-class bomb vessel of the British Navy and had been converted to an Arctic exploration ship. In search of the Northwest Passage, Fury made two journeys to the Arctic, in 1821 and 1825. On the second journey it suffered ice damage while overwintering. The ships’ stores, boats and other useful items were unloaded onto the ice and the ship abandoned on Fury Beach. Over the next few decades, the Fury's abandoned provisions came to the rescue of many Arctic explorers, including that of Arctic explorer John Ross (1829 to 1833) and many subsequent explorers.

In 1956 Fury’s anchors were recovered and today are in the custody of le Musèe du Fort Saint-Jean, Quebec. They had been a landmark for sailors for 136 years. Today the broad low-sloping Fury Beach is covered in flaked conglomerate stones, still littered with wooden and metal material. The landscape is barren of vegetation.
