Bella Bella, also known as Waglisla, is a community (pop. 1900) of the Heiltsuk First Nation on Campbell Island, British Columbia, Canada. The village is amalgamated from all Heiltsuk tribes who occupied numerous large winter and spring villages and associated camp sites spread throughout this traditional territory. Its strategic location on the Inside Passage makes it the major transportation hub for the Central Coast of BC. Bella Bella has a regional airport, BC Ferries terminal, regional hospital, and other infrastructure. The current site was established in 1903. Bella Bella is situated 181 km north of Port Hardy on Vancouver Island, on Lama Passage, part of the Inside Passage.

Formerly known as the Bella Bella Indians, the Heiltsuk speak Hailhzaqvla, the Heiltsuk language. They have traditions as fur traders, canoe making, and western-style ship building. They have always based their food gathering significantly from the sea. They pursued commercial fishing, fish processing, and a salmon hatchery. Culturally, the Heiltsuk have been renowned for their ceremonies, arts, and spiritistic practises. Their artwork is in a two-dimensional style of design called Formline art, a feature along the NW coast of North America.

The Heiltsuk Cultural Education Centre is located inside the Bella Bella Community School building. It is devoted to researching, preserving, and revitalizing the history, language and cultural traditions of the Heiltsuk Nation. The Community School has a unique architectural design, resembling the shape of an eagle and brightly painted. Incidentally, the origin of ‘Bella Bella’ is uncertain.
