Dunk Island, part of the Family Islands National Park, lies 4 km off the east coast of Queensland, opposite the town of Mission Beach, and is in the larger Great Barrier Reef World Heritage Area. The golden foreshore is full of activity, as visitors can hire paddle boards, go tube riding and water skiing, or relax with some off shore snorkelling and swimming. With over seventy percent of the island being a National Park, enjoy walking along the extensive shaded tracks of its virgin rainforests. More than 90 varieties of birds have been identified, together with butterflies and wild orchids that complete this tropical setting.

Another fascinating walk is one that crosses a suspension bridge and continues on to Mount Koo-Tal-Oo Lookout, revealing a postcard view across the palm-fringed beach to distant islands. Dunk Island stands for beauty, casual style, and pure enjoyment. The tropical year-round temperature of 29 degrees makes inspecting the surrounding reefs one of the major activities. A plentiful supply of marine food attracts an array of life that includes sea turtles, dugongs, coral fish, shellfish and crabs. It also serves as an ideal breeding site for terns and noddies as there is a lack of predators.

Visitors can either take a Jet Sea tour to circumnavigate the island, or a 20 minute ‘just for fun’ trip. Day trips are available using the services of the Dunk Island Express Water Taxi or the Quick Cat. To access the full facilities of the on-island Voyages Resort an additional Day Pass will be required. The Day Pass fee includes a delicious lunch at one of the Resorts fabulous restaurants.
