Cruises from Port Lockroy
Port Lockroy is a natural harbour on the SW shore of Wiencke Island, off the Antarctic Peninsula of the British Antarctic Territory. After its discovery in 1904 by a French Antarctic Expedition, it was used for whaling and British military operations during World War II, and then continued to operate as a British research station until 1962. The station, also known as Port Lockroy, is situated on small Goudier Island in the harbour, backed by the mountains and glaciers of Wiencke Island.
