Around the World in a Newsletter

Cruising Around the World
This week's newsletter features many cruises from different regions around the world. We thought we'd share with you some of the amazing ports visited on these cruises.

Asia Cruises
Asian Itineraries offer a vast range of cultures, scenery, architecture and cuisine. On-shore tours may venture up rivers, or inland to archaeological treasures, nature reserves, remnants of colonial eras, world's-most-modern-buildings, and tropical resorts.

Hong Gai
This week's feature port - Hong Gai, Vietnam
Hong Gai is a port city located about 160 km NE of Hanoi. The city lies mainly on Bai Tu Long Bay, a part of the beautiful Halong Bay.
This huge bay is famous for its wonderful landscape of over 200 cliff islands covered with beautiful tropical vegetation and surrounded by the mysterious, beautiful, quiet waters of the bay. Over innumerable centuries the lapping waves at the bases of the cliffs has resulted in the many strangely shaped limestone inlets, striking caves and grottos.
One of the most fascinating cultural features is the floating fishing villages, where houses are set atop barges for their year-round fish cultivation. Enjoy the local food, but be aware that dog meat is often on the menu.

Mediterranean Cruises
The Mediterranean enabled trade for the Egyptians, Phoenicians, Greeks, Romans and Arabs – to name a few – since the start of history. Sailing is year-round in the Mediterranean. Consider on-shore tour options offered by the cruise line or local tour operators. On some cruises the ship stays overnight in port to allow for more time to look around.

Naples
This week's feature port - Naples, Italy
Naples is a historic city over 2,500 years old, sitting on the west coast of southern Italy by the Gulf of Naples. The city is known for its rich history, with art, culture and gastronomy playing an important role throughout much of its existence.
An interesting feature is the cable cars that provide great views and an effective method of getting around town. You are sure to enjoy the famous guitar and mandolin music while absorbing the culture, and don't forget to taste the famous Pizzas.
Caribbean Cruises
Over 7000 Caribbean islands, reefs and cays are bounded on the east by the Bahamas and island arcs of the Antilles, to the south by the Netherlands Antilles, and to the west by Mexico and Belize. As this region is one of the busiest in the world, you have a choice of vessels from 9000 Gross Tonnage to 220,000 Gross Tonnage, from most any cruise line. Miami is the busiest cruise embarkation port in the world, and Nassau the top port of call.

Nassau
This week's feature port - Nassau, Bahamas
The port city of Nassau, which dominates the entire island of New Providence, is the capital of the Commonwealth of the Bahamas, and interestingly is home to over 70 percent of the country's population.
There are a number of must-see landmarks in Nassau, including Rawson Square where you'll find historic government buildings and the old goal, now reborn as a public library and museum.
The golden sands of Cable Beach provide a great spot to swim, go diving, fishing, canoeing, or simply relax. With its grand hotels and great restaurants that each offer a serene atmosphere, unique décor and distinctive cuisine it cannot be missed! Indeed the distinct blend of international glamour and tropical ease of this unique island gives visitors the freedom to do everything, or nothing at all. So, kick back and enjoy.

South Pacific Cruises
The growth of South Pacific cruising gives the traveller a wealth of choices! Since there are many sea days with larger vessels, select a ship with on-board activities that suit your lifestyle. From Cairns smaller expedition vessels make port-intensive explorations around Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands.

Bora Bora This week's feature port - Bora Bora, Tahiti
Bora Bora is possibly the most famous island in the world, as the mysteries and romance associated with the words 'Bora Bora' bring an almost mystical presence to the island. art of the allure has to be its almost unbelievable beauty.
Bora Bora is predestined for snorkelling and scuba diving in and around its lagoon, its most treasured feature, while you can also jet ski, windsurf, or simply bask in its warmth.
Bicycles are the recommended method of transport and there are also small fun-cars for hire in Vaitape, the administrative centre. Shopping for the famed black pearls and jewellery, or visiting the local restaurants are also welcome activities.
