Life aboard Seven Seas Navigator
Around March 2020 Seven Seas Navigator leaves Sydney for French Polynesia and South Pacific islands, then crosses to South America for a scenic cruise around Pitcairn Island and landing with an overnight stay at Easter Island. (Few vessels actually land there.) In June 2020 Navigator departs New York for a 28-night circle of the North Atlantic that includes everything you could wish for. In 2021 Navigator runs a 92-night circle of the North Atlantic (with many segments), from the warm Bermuda and Azores to the Arctic North Cape and Russian ports. Later in the year there’s a circumnavigation of South America over 62 nights. All cruises are port-intensive, and focus on top-range shore excursions. This is an all-suite, all-balcony ship. Passengers spend more time in these 5-star plus suites than on most other ships afloat.
Built in 1999 at 28,550 GT and carrying 490 passengers, Navigator was recently refurbished in 2019. This vessel boasts the highest staff-to-guest ratio in the industry. Full room service offers all dining options. All beverages and gratuities are included in the fare. Entertainment includes Broadway-style productions in the seven-tiered Seven Seas Show Lounge, headline artists, the ship’s ensemble, and bridge (with instructor). On some cruises children have access to the Club Mariner children's programs. Typical Navigator passengers appear to be 40+, affluent and quite well travelled. Check dress code requirements before sailing. Complimentary self-service launderettes are available.
Accommodation
All 245 staterooms have an outside view, and 196 open to a private balcony. Every stateroom is a suite, and the smallest at 301 ft2 is large. All staterooms have as a minimum a walk-in closet, writing desk, table for in-suite meals, king-size bed (or twin beds), generous lounge area, wooden cabinetry, mini-bar/refrigerator, TV/DVD, personal safe, all presented amidst luxurious decor. Marble-clad bathrooms have a full-size bathtub and separate shower, hair dryer, and cotton bathrobe and towels. Balconies (55 ft2) have two recliner chairs and a small table.
There are five grades of balcony suites, each with progressively larger interior and balcony areas, a separate shower, and butler service. Penthouse Suites and above come with butler service. Navigator Suites (495 ft2) have larger dining area and sitting areas, and more bathroom amenities. Grand Suites (739 ft2) include a coffee machine and a separate guest bathroom. Master Suites (1173 ft2) have an extensive balcony, and are ideal for entertaining. Four suites are wheelchair-accessible and located near elevators. A complimentary room service menu is available 24 hours a day, and the chef's nightly menu is served in-suite during regular dining hours. In-suite dining is quite popular.
Food and Dining
The Compass Rose Dining Room has large ocean-view windows and open-seating dining - choose when and with whom to dine - for all meals. Complimentary wines are served during dinner. The alternative restaurant is Portofino Grill. Select from a large range of buffet items for breakfast and lunch. In the evening it becomes an Italian-style steakhouse (reservations are required).
Every afternoon High Tea is served with scones and other delicacies in Galileo's. Complimentary coffees and soft drinks are available throughout the ship at all times. All beverages and gratuities are included in the fare. For fast-food items there is an outdoor grill alongside the pool.
Entertainment
The two-decked Show Lounge features concert-quality music by its nine-piece orchestra, headline entertainers, cabaret acts, and exhibitions of professional dancing. Soloists and musical groups provide live entertainment in several lounges and bars. Dancing is popular and a gentleman host is aboard each cruise. Enjoy pre-dinner cocktails in the Navigator Lounge, or and English club experience in the Connoisseur Club. For those who choose there is an elegant casino.
Enrichment programs include noted guest presenters who lead lectures, classes and workshops. The Internet Cafe helps you maintain contact with the outside world, and is complemented by instructive computer classes. Wireless access throughout the ship is available for a nominal fee. Sporting amenities include a large heated pool, two whirlpools, table tennis, golf driving, Canyon Ranch exercise classes, and gymnasium. Spa-beauty services are world class. On select voyages children (in three age brackets from 5 to 17 years) are immersed in exciting activities by experienced staff.
