Queen Victoria Cruises

(from 104 verified customers)

Queen Victoria ship is one of the four Queens making up the Cunard fleet and carries 2061 passengers. Aboard the smallest of the Cunard ships you will rarely find yourself in a crowd, except perhaps at dinner time or at a popular theatre show. She is a classic ship honouring the British tradition of afternoon tea, which includes white-gloved waiters who serve finger sandwiches, scones with cream in the Queens Rooms. She is elegant and a true icon to sail on. Queen Victoria is one of the few ships that has a class system, linking staterooms with dining venues. Art work specially commissioned is visible in public rooms, corridors, staterooms and lobbies. Most of the major public rooms are on the lowest decks: the Illuminations cinema, Royal Court Theatre, Grand Lobby, restaurants, shopping arcade, bars and clubs are on decks 2 and 3. On Deck 11 are the Queen's Grill and Princess Grill restaurants for higher-fare passengers. Amenities include the largest ballroom at sea and 5-star entertainment nightly in the Royal Court Theatre.Queen Victoria is a favourite amongst Cunard guests, she is well known for her unique atmosphere and sense of intimate experiences.

With the signature ‘White Star’ service and the iconic Cunard bellboys in their red jackets welcoming you aboard, you will immediately feel serene and at home. Queen Victoria is decorated with gleaming chandeliers, magnificent artwork and rich wood detailing throughout the ship. On the promenade deck you will find cafes and bars with many sitting areas that offer many nooks to enjoy your own space. On deck 9 you will find the tranquil Winter Garden, bringing the outdoors in. This is an enclosed space offering floor to ceiling windows bringing in natural light, indoor water sculpture and lush greenery - a perfect backdrop for some quiet moments throughout your journey. The Canyon Ranch Spa offers a lavish space to enjoy a day at the spa or enjoy a beauty treatment. It is important to know that the dress code is implemented onboard, with tidy and stylish casual wear expected throughout the day (including covering up when you finish in the pool) and after 6pm smart casual is expected for most evenings and then formal nights are gala evenings with gowns and suits expected. The gala evenings can be quite spectacular!

A section of the Lido restaurant is sectioned off to be utilised as the specialty restaurants that rotate every 3 or so days, offering cuisines such as Indian, Italian and Asian. It is recommended to book ahead for the specialty restaurants and there will be a small surcharge, these restaurants will also adhere to the evening dress code. Another option that is included in your cruise fare is the Golden Lion Pub, serving up classic pub dishes if you are looking for bangers and mash or a superb pie. Highlights

  • From 5 May to 4 June, Queen Victoria entered dry dock for a partial refit at the Fincantieri shipyard in Palermo, Sicily. This included an upgraded and increased choice of staterooms, new Britannia Club dining, a broader and more distinct bar offering, a transformed sun deck, and several other new features.

  • From the ornately decorated boxes in the Royal Court Theatre through to the wood panelled library, Queen Victoria’s beauty lies within her details.

  • Queen Victoria effortlessly blends all that’s great about the liners past – wood detailing and brass fixtures, for example – with modern comfort and luxury.

Cabins

Cunard ships have three classes of staterooms (of which there are 32 price grades, depending on size and location). Most lavish are Queens Grill Suites, then the elegant Princess Grill Suites. Both come with many privileges, and their own Grill dining rooms and private lounges. Then comes Britannia Class for 83% of guests (Balcony, Oceanview and Inside). Of the 1046 cabins, 86 percent are outside, 71 percent come with balconies, and 12 percent are exclusive Queens/Princess Grill staterooms. Balconies are glass-fronted for good ocean views. Some staterooms accommodate third and fourth guests.

All cabins reflect conservative British decor, and come with excellent bedding, universal electrical sockets, toiletries and hairdryer, bath robe and slippers, shower, 24-hour room and nightly turn-down services, interactive TV with multi-language film and music channels, telephone, refrigerator, safe, daily ship’s newspaper and fresh fruit. There are 20 cabins with good wheelchair accessibility. Queens Grill guests dine in the Queens Grill restaurant, or in-suite, and have butler and concierge services. Princess Grill Suites come with in-suite dining, access to Queens Grill Lounge, dining in the Princess Grill restaurant, and the services of a concierge. Grills guests enjoy a range of niceties such as personalised stationary and access to exclusive deck areas. There are five classes of Grill Suites, ever more spacious depending on position, all with full bath and separate shower, extra in-suite entertainment, and so forth. The perks and increased service of Grill-class accommodation are worth it. In a minor addition to the Grills' areas, passengers in the loftiest accommodations have use of a strategically placed pair of telescopes that provide a bird's-eye view of ports, coming or going.)
