Cruises from Yttygran Island
Yttygran Island is located in the Bering Sea, less than two kilometres from the Asian mainland’s autonomous district of Chukotka of the Russian Federation. On the island’s northern shore is “whalebone alley”, which consists of 50 to 60 carefully arranged whale skulls, 30 jaws, whale bones and stones, along with a considerable number of meat storage pits. The arrangement is thought to be 600 years old, and its purpose is unsure.
