Cruises from Muroran
Muroran is located to the SW of Hokkaido island on a small peninsula jutting into the sea at the entrance of the Uchiura Bay. To the east is the North Pacific Ocean. Muroran was the centre of a steel industry that attracted naval bombardment on the night of 14/15 July 1945. Today, there are large cement factories, steel mills, oil refineries, and shipyards clustered around the port.
Muroran holds eight specific scenic sights called Muroran-Hakkei. The most famous of them is Cape Chikyu, a paradise for sea birds and Peregrine falcons, with its white lighthouse and panoramic blue ocean. You may also get to see the 100 m towering volcanic cliffs of Uchiura Bay.
