Cruises from Geographic Harbor
Geographic Harbor is located on the Alaska Peninsula, about 430 km SW of Anchorage. The harbour is at the head of Amalalik Bay, about 10 km inland from Shelikof Strait. About 40 km to the SE of the strait is Kodiak Island. Geographic Harbor is set in the beautiful region of Katmai National Park. It is known for its Alaskan brown bears.
Read moreGeographic Harbor has a very high population of bears year-round, due to the availability of clams and edible coastal sedge at low tide, as well as salmon and other fish. Bears in Katmai Park are uniquely unafraid of and uninterested in humans, and will allow people to approach (and photograph) much more closely than bears elsewhere.
