Cruises from Delos
Delos (or, Dilos), is the sacred island at the centre of the ring of about 220 islands called the Cyclades archipelago, in the Aegean Sea about 150 km SE of Athens. A few kilometres to the NE of Delos is the larger tourist-frequented island of Mykonos. According to Greek mythology Delos was the birthplace of the mythical Apollo and Artemis. It has been populated since the third millennium BC and today is historically and archaeologically very important.
No other island on Earth hosts so many monumental antiquities from the Archaic, the Classical, and the Hellenistic periods. The island itself is roughly 5 km N-S, and 1.3 km E-W; quite compact.
