Renowned as a world class Bonefish adventure site, Christmas Island (Kiritimati, pronounced ‘Christmas’) in the Republic of Kiribati (the local pronunciation of ‘Gilberts’) is the world's largest coral atoll, situatedl in the northern Line Islands. (There’s another Christmas Island in the Indian Ocean south of Java.) Since 1995 Kiribati is the easternmost country in the world, and was the first country to enter the year 2000.
