Belawan is a port city on the NE coast of Sumatra, Indonesia. As Medan, the third largest city in Indonesia, is located on the Deli River just 25 km away, many passengers visit this city. The area of special attraction would have to be Lake Toba, one of the largest freshwater lakes in the world. Lake Toba was formed during a volcanic eruption millions of years ago, an eruption that some anthropologists believe killed most of the surrounding animal population.
