Cruises from Banjul
Banjul, the capital of Gambia, is a seaport town located on St Mary’s Island where the Gambia River enters the ocean. The island is connected to the mainland to the west and the rest of Greater Banjul Area via bridges. There are also ferries linking Banjul to the mainland at the other side of the river. The south side of the magnificent estuary is home to 40 km of beautiful sandy coastline, while the city has become a worthy commercial centre.
The friendliness of the local people, who welcome visitors whole-heartedly at the nature reserves and craft markets, has resulted in its being known as the Smiling Coast.
