Cruises from Arakamchechen Island
Arakamchechen Island lies 6 km off the sub-Arctic coast of Chukotka, Far East Russia, in the Bering Sea. From the eastern plain the island slopes up to hills touching 500m. The island is a sanctuary for walruses and a variety of birdlife, hence visited by eco-tourists. View passing whales out to sea. Four kilometres south of the island is smaller Yttygran Island, where skeletal ribs, skulls and backbones of bowhead whales lie starkly across the grassed landscape.
