Cruises visiting Puerto Ordaz & all Puerto Ordaz cruises for  2020

Puerto Ordaz is a Venezuelan town situated on the Caroni River at the point where it flows into the Orinoco River, about 250 km inland from the Atlantic mouth of the Orinoco River. At the confluence the dark tannin-stained waters of the ‘blackwater’ Caroni tributary mix with the brown waters of the mighty Orinoco (4th largest river by volume in the world). Puerto Ordaz is situated on the left bank of the Caroni, and the old town of San Félix on the right bank: the two constituting Ciudad Guayana (Guayana City), that stretches 40 km along the south bank of the Orinoco River.

Puerto Ordaz is a well developed planned city. Ciudad Guayana and its port are key to its iron, steel, aluminium and hydroelectric industries and exports. From the Angosturita bridge the union of the Caroní and Orinoco rivers can be seen; the different colours of the water of both rivers make a very distinct demarcation line. The Alta Vista District is very similar to the United States in the 1950s. Other points of interest are the Castles of Guayana at the right side of the Orinoco River, about 38 km down river from Puerto Ordaz. Also there's the "Cerro del Elefante" (Elephant's hill) that can be reached in a 4x4 vehicle.

Inside the city the Loefling, Llovizna and Cachamay Parks are located displaying their picturesque waterfalls. The Llovizna Falls (‘Misty Spray Falls’), six kilometres upstream from the port on the Caroni River, are quite spectacular. The Macagua Dam and hydroelectric installation is just above the falls, and when the floodgates to the falls are open the falls are even more spectacular. The easy of access to Macagua from the city centre makes it a tourist and educational destination, with its public park and Macagua Eco museum. There are some white-sand beaches if you feel like swimming.
