I would always ask to book again with Sarah as she was awesome, the problem is we don't go on many family holidays and neither does our close friend group!! This was our first trip away in nearly 6 years!!"

Yalta, the jewel of the Crimean peninsula in southern Ukraine, lies on a deep bay of the Black Sea, while steep mountain peaks serve as a picturesque backdrop for the city. Built on the site of an ancient Greek colony, there are numerous beautiful buildings - many intricate in design – as well as monuments of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Reserves and parks are integral to the beauty of the city, and with beaches that stretch for 59 km, the sub-tropical climate, as well as many restaurants, cafes and a large open-air market, it is not surprising that it is one of the most popular resorts of Ukraine.

Places to see include: Livadia the home that was used for the WWII conference of Stalin, Churchill and Roosevelt; the writer Chekhov’s former residence - now a museum - that is home to a piano played by Rachmaninov on several visits; and do not miss the fairy-tale castle Swallow’s Nest that is perched on the edge of a cliff overlooking the sea. Visit the Nikitsky Botanical Gardens just outside of Yalta and beside the sea, which boast over 1,600 varieties of plants and a very good restaurant that provides delightful respite.

For the energetic, the Yalta rope way leads visitors up the dome-shaped hill Darsan that at a height of 140m offers a panoramic view of the city. If time permits take a refreshing ferry or hydrofoil ride to other resort towns along the coast, or if interested in history visit two sites of the Crimean war that are featured in the poem The Charge of the Light Brigade. Take a cable car to Mt. Ai-Petri for fabulous views and visit the beautiful Miskhor beach. For the children there are many amusement park rides, aqua parks, and delightful dolphin centres.
