Tulagi (aka Tulaghi) is a small island in the Solomon Islands, just off the south coast of Florida Island, and separated from Guadalcanal by Ironbottom Sound, just over an hour’s boat trip north of Honiara. The town Tulagi was the capital of the Solomon Islands but was severely damaged during WWII and is today the capital of the Central Province.

In the beautiful waters around Tulagi some of the world’s best diving is to be found, from pristine reefs to spectacular WWII wrecks that are reminders of its turbulent history through the time of the Battle of the Coral Sea. The wrecks of USS Kanawha, and HMNZS Moa are close by, and the wrecks of Ironbottom Sound are not much further off, while the USS Aaron Ward is considered to be one of the world's great wreck dives as the hull lies upright and intact on a sandy bottom at 70 metres.

If you tire of diving or snorkelling, there are many things you can do in Tulagi and on the surrounding islands. Take in a fascinating WWII tours and perhaps see some Japanese tunnels, picnic on a deserted island for the day, or visit the Guavutu Dolphin Park where you can feed and play with the dolphins in their natural environment.
