San Fernando is a small port on the NW coast of northern Luzon, the largest island in the Philippines. The port provides access by coach to the City of Baguio with its subtropical highlands climate, 1500 m above sea level. Interestingly, on September 3, 1945, it was here in Camp John Hay that the Japanese Imperial Forces surrendered at the end of WWII.

Tourism is the city’s main business. Sites to visit are the Camp John Hay recreational facility, Mines View Park with views across the mountain landscapes, the presidential home Mansion House that replicates Buckingham Palace, BenCab Museum (named for the famed Filipino artist), Tam-awan Village that presents a reconstruction of traditional village life, and finally some of the many local markets.
