Cruises from Hienghene
Hienghene, a commune in the North Province of New Caledonia in the South Pacific, is an overseas-territory of France. It is named after the large mass of rock in the bay, the silhouette of which very closely resembles a hen (‘Poule de Hienghene’). The brooding hen faces the Sphinx at the eastern side of the bay. The Sphinx, as it is covered in dense vegetation, takes a bit of imagination to recognise its shape, but the two named rock formations guard the entrance to the bay.
