Cruises visiting Malacca & all Malacca cruises for  2019-2020

View Malacca 2019-2020 cruises for 3 ships listing 10 cruises from Malacca with today's best deals!

Malacca City (Melaka) is located on the west coast of the Malaysian Peninsula about 147 km S of inland Kuala Lumpur, and 200 km NW of Singapore. In earlier times Malacca was the greatest port in the region, as evidenced by its architecture that has been influenced by Chinese, Portuguese, Dutch, British, and Thai traders. Even today it lies on the Maritime Silk Road between China and Pakistan. Bandar Hilir (Malacca Town) is the soul of the city and the doorway to beauty, while the Town Square, with its nearby Queen Victoria's Fountain and the ruins of St Paul's Church, attract many visitors.

The economy of Melaka City is largely based on tourism. Among the tourist attractions in and nearby Melaka City are: A Famosa, a Portuguese fortress of 1511; Dutch Square on the right (eastern) bank of the river, and the old Chinatown on the left (western) bank; Melaka City Hall; The Chinese Hill and cemetery; the Cheng Ho Cultural Museum; the Straits Chinese Jewellery Museum; the many attractions along Jonker Walk in Chinatown; Little India; the Portuguese Settlement; Stadthuys (Dutch city hall of 1650); Maritime Museum; Christ Church; Malacca Sultanate Palace Museum; the excellent Malacca Zoo; and 110m revolving Taming Sari Tower.

Malacca's many faiths, and resultant places of worship, provide a big attraction to tourists who want to experience this diversity for themselves. Check out such family attractions as the Recreational Forest, Butterfly Farm, Crocodile Farm, Mini Malaysia, Mini ASEAN, Aborigines Museum and Ayer Keroh Lake. Enjoy its green attractions, great shopping and delicious food. A trishaw service waits for customers at Stadhuis Red Square. Incidentally, the city faces the Strait of Malacca, one of the most important shipping lanes in the world, carrying one quarter of the world’s traded goods, and open to ships of 300,000 DWT.
