Pulau Labuan or Labuan Island is a tiny island in a group of six, just off the coast of Sabah, East Malaysia. Once known as the Jewel of the Orient, snorkelling and deep sea diving are major attractions as there are a few sunken ships in the area. If you enjoy fishing you will thoroughly enjoy these fishing grounds which offer unlimited deep-sea and coastal catches.

Enjoy relaxing on the beaches, as well as collecting some of the fascinating, even rare, shells. Visit the WWII Memorial and see the almost four thousand graves. The Labuan Maritime Museum is also of historical interest. Just a short drive from town, where coal mining was done in the early days, is The Chimney, which is if particular interest because its real purpose has never been uncovered. Bird lovers will enjoy the delightful variety of tropical birds at the Bird Park with its unusual dome covered cages.

This duty free island offers a wide range of both locally produced and imported goods, sold in modern shopping complexes, which sometimes have cultural shows that add to the excitement. Enjoy fresh seafood which can be enjoyed at friendly, pleasant, restaurants. Hire a taxi and make use of local knowledge to visit the Water Village, where you will be made to feel most welcome. With its safe, tropical, year round climate, you will truly enjoy this well known International Offshore Financial Centre.
