Ko Adang lies in the Andaman Sea 90 km off the west coast of the Thailand/Malaysia border. Its peak overshadows the dozen other islands of its immediate archipelago. Forty kilometres to the south of east is Malaysia’s resort of Langkawi. Ko Adang and 50 surrounding islands are part of Tarutao National Marine Park covering 1490 sq.km. (Interestingly, Adang comes from the Malay ‘prawn’, and Tarutao means ‘oldest island.
