Cruises visiting Bitung & all Bitung cruises for  2020-2021

View Bitung 2020-2021 cruises for 2 ships listing 13 cruises from Bitung with today's best deals!

Bitung is a small city on the NE tip of the tropical Indonesian island of Sulawesi, geographically situated mid-way between the islands of New Guinea and Borneo. It is a deepwater port for the provincial capital Manado that lies 45 km to the west. This is one of the friendliest ports you may ever visit, where locals of all ages just make you feel welcome, despite the city’s lack of tourism infrastructure. On disembarking you’ll be included in song, dance and photographs wherever you go. Just walk into town and absorb the atmosphere of stalls, homes, local shops, churches, mosques, Chinese temple, tropical flowers and greenery.

Bitung faces the island of Lembeh, 700 metres across Lembeh Strait, in a region known for its extreme and colourful marine biodiversity. An overwhelming reason for coming to this part of the world is the diving and wonderful opportunities for underwater photography. Travelling outside town you’ll drive through dense tropical forests alongside towering volcanos. Nearby is Tangkoko Nature Reserve, only a one hour drive from Bitung, and filled with birds, flora and fauna. The area is composed of impressive green hills and valleys and amazing natural scenery.

Bitung has tens of kilometres of pleasant beaches both on the mainland and Lembeh. Historical events are honoured by several monuments such as the monument Trikora Mandala Sakti and the Japanese monument. Many take a walking tour through the city itself, and walk around the small harbor with its many traditional sailing boats. Visit Pasar Tua - near the bus station - with many small open shops on the road selling clothes, and even a barber shop. Try the local cuisine, and barter for batik cloth and handicrafts. The Buddhist temple is about 5 minutes from the port by “mikro” - a small blue bus.
