Cruises from Selaru Island
Selaru Island lies 470 km due north of Darwin and 410 km due east of Timur Leste. It is one of a group of 65 islands in the Tanimbar Islands, between Arafura and Banda seas, in the Indonesian Archipelago. Their wooden houses on piles show fine construction and carvings, and they are skilful boat builders. At sea they collect sea cucumbers and turtle shell; on land work in iron, copper and gold. The women are noted for ikat weavings using handspun cotton thread.
