Our consultant was most helpful, and when she was on holiday someone else stepped in - great. Also big thank you to the staff member who tried to help me when I couldn't log on to cruise personalised - their advice was correct, I was able to log on at work with a different provider."

Menyawakan Island is situated in the Java Sea, 125 km due north of the major Central Java city of Semarang. It is one of the 27 islands that make up the Karimunjawa Islands. Menyawakan is a resort island that would fit into an area 700m by 500m, and with a surrounding reef twice those measures. At the southern edge of the reef there is a small boat entry and anchorage for half a dozen vessels. The resort buildings are at the SW and W of the island, and the remainder is covered with coconut palms. One can walk around the island along white sandy beaches in half an hour, wade into the calm waters, and relax under the shady palms.

This archipelago that stretches 50 km by 25 km has been developed into a Marine Park tourist attraction. Karimunjawa Islands are home to coral reefs, mangrove forests, coastal forests, as well as nearly 400 species of marine fauna, including 242 species of ornamental fish. Some rare fauna that live here are White Chest Sea Hawks, Hawksbill turtles, and green turtles. The resort on Menyawakan cares for sea turtles in a special sanctuary until they can be released into the sea. Locals organise diving to fringing reefs, atolls and many wrecks, amidst a good variety of interesting species such as the Crocodile fish and Leafy Scorpion fish.
